The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) publishes a public consultation on "Data Center Regulations”, in accordance with the best international practices in the sector, and its future directions. This comes in light of the rapid development in the communications and information technology sector, and the authority's continuous endeavor, through its strategy, to keep pace with this development.

The regulation aims to create a suitable environment for the expected growth in the sector, motivate investments in data centers and promote fair competition, in addition to achieving optimal use of the infrastructure of the communications and information technology sector, and promote advanced and environmentally friendly data centers.

CITC is inviting all interested parties, national and international, to participate in the public consultation

Public Consultation on National Blockchain Blueprint

The blueprint was collaboratively produced by Communications Regulatory Authority, Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Qatar University. The National Blockchain Blueprint highlights how the blockchain technology can contribute to building an innovative and growing IT sector in Qatar by increasing domestic and foreign investment as stated in the CRA Strategy 2021-2025, to support Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV) and Qatar National Development Strategy, as well as to enabling a seamless transition towards smart Qatar.

The purpose of publishing this document is for public consultation. All stakeholders and interested parties are kindly invited to review the document and to submit their feedback and comments by email to ([email protected]) by no later than September 01 ,2022.

CRA National Blockchain Blueprint

Public Consultation On New Licensing Framework For Telecommunications

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) aims to update the regulatory framework to go in a line with the Sultanate`s strategy in simplifying the procedures, to attract investing & to enhance competition. TRA has started reviewing telecommunications service licensing framework stipulated on the Telecom Act, where Article (20) states that No person is permitted to either establish or operate a Telecommunications system, nor provide telecommunications services, unless after obtaining a license from the Authority. Article (21) stipulates the number of public telecommunications services licenses categories.

Therefore, in order to keep pace with the rapid development in the telecommunications sector, it is important that telecommunications licensing framework should be in accordance with the best international practices that contribute in the development of this vital sector. As a result, TRA is announcing a public consultation for the amendment of telecom services licensing framework based on the suggestion provided in the public consultations document.
