stc Bahrain, a digital enabler, has concluded its 2025 Trees for Life afforestation campaign, with more than 15,500 trees planted across the Kingdom during the year, bringing the total number planted since the campaign’s inception in 2021 to over 70,500. This achievement contributes directly to Bahrain’s National Afforestation Plan, which aims to increase the country’s tree coverage from 1.8 million to 3.6 million trees by 2035, supporting the Kingdom’s commitment to reach net-zero emissions by 2060.
Trees for Life was launched to address climate change, improve green spaces, and promote environmental awareness. In 2025, tree planting activities were undertaken across multiple locations, including schools, universities, municipal areas, and community spaces. The selection of native and climate-resilient species ensures long-term environmental benefits such as enhanced air quality, reduced desertification, and strengthened biodiversity.
Sh. Zeyad Al Khalifa, Chief Government Affairs Officer at stc Bahrain “Trees for Life continues to play an important role in the Kingdom’s environmental strategy. Through consistent planning and engagement, the initiative supports national objectives to restore natural ecosystems and improve the quality of life for future generations.”
stc Bahrain’s collaborative approach has created strong partnerships with a wide range of organizations. These include government ministries, governorates, and municipalities, along with private sector partners such as SADAD, Northern and Southern Governorates, Northern and Southern Municipalities, Hasan & Habib Sons of Mahmood (HHM Group), Carrefour, Huawei, Aqaratcom, American Express, Memac Ogilvy, Nass Group, Silah, and Al Amin Gardening Solutions. Educational institutions such as the American School of Bahrain, Bahrain Bayan School, IKNS, and the British School, as well as the Address Beach Resort Bahrain Hotel, have also contributed significantly to the programme’s success.
As 2026 begins, stc Bahrain will maintain its focus on sustainable growth of the programme, expanding tree planting activities, engaging communities, and reinforcing the Kingdom’s progress toward its environmental and climate goals.
