Mr. Petros Galides, Member of the Board of the Digital Regulation Network (DRN) of the ITU, and Chairman of the European and Mediterranean Regulators Group for Electronic Communications (EMERG), participated in ITU’s Global Symposium for Regulators 2025 (GSR-25), held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (31 August – 3 September). GSR-25 was organised by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) of Saudi Arabia, in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) under the theme “Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development.”
In his intervention at the Regional Regulatory Associations and Digital Regulation Network (DRN) Meeting, he underlined the importance of the continuing close cooperation between the ITU and Regional Regulatory Associations, leveraging the DRN platform to foster sustainable, forward-looking, and inclusive regulatory ecosystems that benefit citizens, businesses and economies.
As Chairman of EMERG, he highlighted the Group’s role as a trusted platform of 26 Regulatory Authorities, focusing on harmonising regulatory approaches, sharing knowledge, and strengthening regional and international cooperation.
