Huawei and Conch Group win global call for solutions for an inclusive Digital Economy 2025 Award

The Conch Yungong Large Model was named a winner of the Global Call for Solutions for an Inclusive Digital Economy 2025 at the 80th UN General Assembly's Digital Cooperation Day. The model was jointly developed by Huawei and Anhui Conch Cement, a subsidiary of Conch Group, using Huawei Cloud's Pangu foundation models. It represents the world's first large model tailored to the building materials industry.

A new benchmark for intelligent manufacturing in the building materials industry

The Conch Yungong Large Model, launched on April 23, 2025, was recognized as an Implemented Solution Winner in the category of Stable and Resilient Digital Supply Chains, among 700 submissions to the Global Call for Solutions for an Inclusive Digital Economy 2025. This represents high recognition of the solution's innovative digital and intelligent features, and a breakthrough for China's building materials industry. Powered by industrial big data and AI, the model helps lay the groundwork for stable, resilient, and green cement production, and provides a reference for the digital and intelligent transformation of traditional manufacturing sectors.

Technology-driven upgrade for intelligent manufacturing

When building the Conch Yungong Large Model, Huawei and Conch Group used in-depth industry insights to identify over 200 promising AI application scenarios across 15 sections of the cement production process, from mining to clinker production, packaging, and transmission. Trained on Huawei Cloud's Pangu foundation models, the Yungong model has enabled 85%-accurate 3-day and 28-day clinker strength prediction that can better inform cement formula optimization. The model also improves global clinker burning optimization by providing real-time recommendations for key process parameter targets, reducing standard coal consumption by 1% beyond the level-1 energy efficiency baseline.

In a meeting with Conch Group in July this year, Zou Ciyong, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director of the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), praised Conch Group's practices in energy conservation, carbon emissions reduction, green manufacturing, and digital transformation, stating that it provided replicable experience for industry digitalization efforts around the world.

International cooperation through technological dialogue and governance engagement

This award marks a milestone for Conch Group, which has adopted a broad international cooperation strategy. At the 2025 International Forum on Carbon Emission Reduction of Building Materials Industry in July, Conch Group's Vice President He Chengfa met with UNIDO representatives to reach a consensus on international platforms for AI practices. In September, Conch Group officially joined the Global Alliance on AI for Industry and Manufacturing (AIM Global). By creating technical solutions and engaging in governance, Conch Group has become a voice representing Chinese enterprises in global industry standards organizations, and improved the feasibility of technical roadmaps for industry transformation in developing countries.

A valuable reference for global green and intelligent transformation

Many countries are striving to advance digitalization while achieving carbon peaks and carbon neutrality. Huawei and Conch Group will continue their strategic partnership to integrate AI with green manufacturing, optimize industry chains, improve product quality, and increase energy efficiency. Together, they aim to help traditional manufacturing sectors go intelligent and green, and create best practices that can serve as a valuable reference for industry transformation and quality digital economy development.

The Global Call for Solutions for an Inclusive Digital Economy was launched in July 2025 by the UNIDO, the UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the UN Development Coordination Office (UNDCO), and the UN Office for Digital and Emerging Technologies (ODET). This initiative aims to promote the development of innovative technologies that can help close the digital divide and build more inclusive, secure, and sustainable digital economies worldwide. The initiative has three goals: providing equal access to digital technologies and economic opportunities for women, youth, MSMEs, and marginalized communities; building ecosystems through efforts in inclusive digital policies, skills training, resilient supply chains, and other key areas; and facilitating global collaboration by engaging the 173 UNIDO Member States to implement Goal 2 of the Global Digital Compact and accelerate the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
